Q. | It seems like a huge investment. Is it worth it?
| |
A. | Renaissance was born out of frustration. Paul our Personal Trainer is passionate about what he does and was used to working with local clients and getting good results. He knew however, that even better results would come about if he could provide the right environment. Many of his clients jokingly said “Paul take me home and teach me to cook and tell me what to eat, and I’m sure we’ll get to my goal much quicker”. Not a bad idea! Our research showed us that slimming clubs and fitness phases don’t work in the long-term. Exercise and diet aren’t enough; we must tackle the mindset as well and had to do this holistically.
We then sat down and thought about all the aspects of a program that would be safe and help people achieve their goals. Clients had to leave here looking and feeling better, armed with the right tools to build upon what they had learnt and achieved at Renaissance. Professional advice was a necessity so we brought in a qualified Doctor and a physiotherapist to join the professional fitness team of Paul and Rani. In conjunction with the Doctor, Fi the nutritionist designed a healthy eating program. People needed to learn the art of relaxation, so massage and reflexology added an essential ingredient. But what about when people went home, how could they put into practice what they had learnt once they were back in their own environment? Kath was brought in to help identify barriers and motivate clients to help them stay committed.
We wanted the client to feel that this was their time and not to have to concern themselves with paying out for lots of extras during their stay. Even the Friday and Sunday evenings when you go to a restaurant are included in the holiday cost and most clients are surprised at how little money they have to spend once they are here.
The only missing link then was the post-support, and the past clients web forum came into being, as well as emails and telephone calls from our team.
We understand that it is a big investment in terms of both time and money and by choosing us you have come to the right place. We believe your health and wellbeing are priceless; you just need to believe you’re worth it.

Q. | Why is the focus on one-to-one sessions and not in groups?
| |
A. | First of all, by working on a one-to-one basis you will find out the best exercises to suit your body. Individual training increases motivation, body awareness and helps with personal goal setting. It helps you to use your time efficiently and to the maximum effect. You will be empowered with the knowledge of how to do a good work-out within a safe controlled environment and more importantly when you are at home.
Q. | Can I contact anyone that has already been there?
| |
A. | There is no better recommendation than those customers who have already been here, and if you would like to speak with them, please contact us and we can put you in touch.
Q. | Will I see any real changes in a week?
| |
A. | Fitness levels can change quite dramatically in some people in a very short space of time and mentally, most people feel they are in a much better place. Weight loss is inevitable through the exercise and nutrition regimes. The amount, of course varies from individual to individual.
Q. | I only need to lose a stone how long should I come for?
| |
A. | It really varies on the individual and the best thing is to phone and discuss this with one of our team. Everyone is different, and each situation has to be taken into account. If you are suffering from a medical condition such as thyroid, we have to focus on increasing your metabolism before any real weight loss can be achieved.
Q. | I’ve had heart surgery and can barely walk. My Doctor says I need to get fit. Would this holiday suit me?
A. | In such cases, we always ask that you visit your GP before booking and ask for a certificate stating you are fit to exercise. Your Doctor will carry out an assessment and then provide the certificate. We understand you may be afraid to exercise after major surgery. To ensure safety and give you peace of mind, we provide a full physical assessment and your heart will be monitored throughout your training program. In addition to this, our team Doctor is on 24 hour call out. By taking things a step at a time, you will be surprised at what you can eventually achieve.
Q. | I have Diabetes & the Doctor is suggesting I go on insulin. Can you help?
| |
A. | The first thing is that you don´t have to go on insulin if you eat properly, and this has been proven numerous times at Renaissance. Through our nutrition and exercise, you will see decreases in blood sugar levels and most likely will reduce your medication while you are here if you are with us for an adequate duration.
Q. | Can I come with my partner even though we are at different fitness levels?
| |
A. | Yes. Apart from dining and free time, you will be working with our trainers and therapists on a one-to-one basis so your differing fitness levels will not be a problem.
Q. | Do I work out every day?
| |
A. | We like to get the best out of you between Monday and Friday during which time you will follow a timetable of activities. By the weekend you will be ready for a well earned rest. For the more energetic you may use the indoor and outdoor pools and gym if you wish. As the fitness program intensifies each week, we advise rest time to avoid injury and to ensure you are ready to meet the next week’s challenges
Q. | Do I get much free time?
A. | Yes. We balance the mix of timetabled activities with free time. The weekends are free.
Q. | Is the Academy open all year round?
| |
A. | We close for the month of August and two weeks over Christmas and New Year.
Q. | Are there minimum or maximum age limits?
| |
A. | We do not accept anyone under the age of 25. There is no maximum limit.
Q. | How do I get from the airport?
| |
A. | Before your arrival we email clear instructions as to which one of the team will be collecting you and where they will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall. Your name will be clearly written on our Renaissance sign and you will find it impossible to miss us. We will wait for any other clients arriving at a similar time and will all travel back together in the Renaissance Grand Voyager. On arrival at the Academy you will be welcomed by Paul and the other guests and made to feel at home. On departure we make sure you are checked in.
